This dish celebrates one of Singapore’s most beloved breakfast traditions — crispy you tiao dipped into silky soft-boiled eggs, paired with a chilled (or warm) cup of fresh soya bean milk. For generations, this humble trio has been a staple at kopitiams and hawker centres across the island.
From tearing you tiao into pieces and dunking them into half-cooked eggs seasoned with soy sauce and pepper, to enjoying you tiao soaked in warm soya bean milk (a classic found in many old-school breakfast stalls), this combination is a comforting reminder of childhood mornings and family routines.
Crispy, runny, savoury, and lightly sweet — it’s simple, satisfying, and unmistakably Singaporean.
